The new school year marks a new season of service at Bryn Mawr. To commence the CSL 2015-2016 season, we chose to begin our year of service with a book drive! The book drive benefits Our Daily Bread, a soup kitchen in Baltimore City. Our Daily Bread has a library in which children are allowed to take three books home each time they visit. They are allowed to keep these books, leaving the kitchen in constant demand for more reading materials.
The high school has done an amazing job in regards to the book collection. Here are the results:
1st place- The tenth grade, with 113 books
2nd place- The senior class, with 101 books
3rd place- The ninth grade, with 44 books
4th place- The juniors, with 33 books
As you can see, the high school collected close to 300 books! This is an impressive number. I know that Our Daily Bread will be so thrilled with the outcome. Every book will make an impact.
Over the past few months, I have been volunteering during Our Daily Bread’s Saturday and Sunday mealtimes. My experiences there have been incredibly rewarding; I have learned so much about compassion and hard work. The people who benefit from ODB are so kind and always brighten my day.
If you still need to fulfill service hours, or are just looking for an amazing place to volunteer, I highly recommend Our Daily Bread!
