This November, the Bryn Mawr Upper school held our annual UnThanksgiving Food Drive. As a community, we brought in 1,397 cans and other non perishable food items. All of the collected goods were donated to the Maryland Food Bank. Many may be thinking why is this called the UnThanksgiving food drive. Well, this is because CSL did not want to limit the types of items that people donated. As an organization we wanted the food bank to receive a wide variety of foods from the upper school, not just those that are Thanksgiving related.

To Bryn Mawr, holding a food drive is something that is extremely important. After noticing how many hungry people in Maryland alone exist, this is a drive is something meaningful to us. The Maryland Food Bank feeds on average 100,000 meals a day. And with the help of the entire BMS community, we were able to assist those affected by hunger within the greater Baltimore area.

Just to get everyone involved and excited about the food drive, CSL created an upper school-wide competition. The grade that brought in the most cans celebrated with a pie party courtesy of CSL. This year, the grade with the most cans were the juniors, bringing in a total of 479 cans !! CSL is proud to announce that each and every grade did a phenomenal job with bringing in cans and other non perishable food items.

If you are ever looking for a place to donate to or volunteer with, the Maryland Food Bank is a great option! Below is a photo of the CSL team loading the MD Food Bank's truck with donated items!
